Switch faults & dimmers
Buzzing, flickering or dead switches replaced, plus LED-compatible dimmers correctly matched to the lamp load.
Tripping RCDs & fault finding
Systematic circuit-by-circuit fault finding with insulation resistance and loop testing rather than guesswork.
Extractor fans
Bathroom and kitchen fans replaced or newly installed with the required overrun, isolation and ducting.
Outdoor sockets & garden lighting
IP-rated outdoor sockets and lighting supplied on suitably protected circuits with correct cable routing.
Consumer unit repairs
Individual MCB, RCBO or RCD replacements where the board is otherwise sound, plus labelling and schedule updates.
Appliance connections
Cookers, hobs, ovens and electric showers connected or reconnected on correctly rated circuits and protective devices.
Smoke & CO alarms
Mains-interlinked and sealed-unit alarms fitted or replaced in line with BS 5839-6 grades and coverage.

What counts as a small job?
Anything that alters an existing circuit without adding a new one is usually minor works — a replacement accessory, an added spur, a swapped light fitting. That work is certified with a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. Adding a whole new circuit, changing a consumer unit, or work in a bathroom or outdoors may be notifiable under Part P, which Paul handles through NAPIT.

- Do you take on small electrical jobs?
- Yes — small jobs are welcome. Socket swaps, light fittings, faulty switches and fault finding are everyday work, not an inconvenience.
- Is there a minimum charge for a small job?
- There is a minimum call-out that covers the first hour on site plus travel. Paul confirms the price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
- Can several small jobs be done in one visit?
- Yes, and it usually works out cheaper. Write a list when you call and Paul will quote the whole visit rather than each item separately.
- Do small jobs still get a certificate?
- Any work that alters a circuit gets the appropriate certificate — a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate for most small alterations, or an Electrical Installation Certificate for new circuits.
